In the mean time..

Hello there,

We have been silent for a while, so thought of updating you what’s happening at Notion Ink in the mean time:

  • Our User Interface team just expanded 4 times! For the Honeycomb we wanted a new team, and started working on the hiring process since last November. A new Lead on UI is working with us for a while (since August in fact), and what you have seen are most of his designs ๐Ÿ™‚ I will introduce him soon! (He is younger than me!) Our current aim is to unify the User Interface a lot and create better guidelines.
  • Eden is a concept which is built around multi-tasking and content creation. Adam 1 was our honest approach on Froyo where we tested its limit to maximum. Our programmers come ย out very happy out of the presentation room where they teach themselves Honeycomb and what’s new. And most of the time they will smile when they say “what’s new!” Fragments is what panels are. We mentioned sometime ago that Eden is extremely compatible!
  • Harmony and Ventana are two Tegra platforms and in September we made few hardware changes to make Adam Ventana compatible. That was doneย cos we sensed only Ventana devices will be able to run Honeycomb and we were right.
  • We also added more strength to our legal team who will work more on the IP and Patent areas.
  • One more major update is on your way and I really thank my team for that!
  • As I told you earlier as well, Honeycomb on Adam is a work in progress now. All application are also on time for their port on Honeycomb.
  • Our team has left for China for the next phase of shipment and logistics.
  • You can call Notion Ink as Notion Ink LLC as well now! (Registered in Nevada recently)
  • We did a small test of our system and CCAveneue’s web front for the next round of orders. Those were real orders. We have worked hard to lower the shipment time to under 3-4 weeks and this was our first effort. Next orders will be coming soon and you know who all are invited for it. But this time if you feel you should have been there, there will a small process where you can ensure this!
  • The EAP2 Program and SDK. Now that still hasn’t kicked off because whole Notion Ink is in the mode of switching from Froyo-Gingerbread to Honeycomb. It makes more sense to share on a platform where developers can ensure their art work on more devices and which is a standard. RenderScript is also one part we are waiting for.
  • Phillip, one of our friend just did a “World’s First”. He used his Adam to officiate a wedding! ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. Hmm good to know. Hopefully being constantly “under moderation” didn’t ruin my chances of ordering one. The other tablets are starting to look bad price-wise. Xoom being too expensive, and with crazy strings attached, and Toshiba Tablet having no news at all. So far the Toshiba Tablet is the main competitor to my decision of who gets my $500. lol

  61. Since hardware changes were made in September the Adam you have received or are now receiving, or will receive in the future should have no problem with Honeycomb.

    Rohan states: Harmony and Ventana are two Tegra platforms and in September we made few hardware changes to make Adam Ventana compatible. That was done cos we sensed only Ventana devices will be able to run Honeycomb and we were right.

    It seems pretty clear to me…..

  64. Great news! I was laughing when i read about the honeycomb’s fragments last week. Looks like you beat them with the leaves moniker. They had to settle for fragments ‘Information Weekly’ is already making fun of it.
    The order last week went fairly ok I feel. Still plenty of people don’t call their bank before making the purchase despite NI’s reminder. Some did not bother to call their bank even when their transaction was held up. It is strange that people are unable to follow simple procedures.
    Anyway good to have constant activity at NI in terms of deliveries, New updates and a order run.

  72. @Rohan It seems that the apps “carousel” view is MUCH more fluid (makes sense b/c it’s using Tegra directly). Is there no way to design the main 3-Panels view to use Tegra directly? I am sure your devs are on top of it, and I just wanted to drop my two cents. The responsiveness/smoothness in “carousel” view is utterly-butterly smooth.

    (PS: Any way I can bribe you to push my Feb 14th shipping date sooner in an exchange for a big hearty “thank you”?)

    Oh, and Rohan, I definitely agree with the decision to wait until full Honeycomb integration is done before releasing the SDK. No sense in making developers transition so soon after release.

  93. I recalled your panels when watching Honeycomb UI. However your panels occupy whole screen vertically compared to smaller size in Honeycomb. Try to maintain the aspect ratio of Honeycomb and also provide option to run vanilla Honeycomb w/o rooting. Adam UI uses limited color depth(pale colors) compared to Honeycomb UI(rich colors), we want the screen as colorful as an iPad. Hope you would consider the request.

    But how hard can it be? At the time of PO1 it would take ten more weeks, which are long gone now.
    Don’t understand what’s keeping Mastercard so long, but I trust Rohan’s word it will be managed for PO2. I didn’t apply for a Visa card, relying on that.

  98. Any chance that Preorder 2 would be made in time to have deliveries before the middle of March?
    I ask because I’m going away on a trip March 18 and would like to take Adam with me. Of course I would still have to get on the pre-order list as I don’t believe signing up to the EAP program puts me on it. As a matter of fact I can’t even remeber what happened to the program. I did get an initial email but nothing ever happened on the site for dewelopers, and I never put my name forward for that first hardware blitz that was discussed some time before preorder1.

    Anyways, I’m glad that Rohan started a new post. That last one was getting a little too much to try and navigate.

    Still looking for a response from someone who has tried Audible’s software on the Adam. How does it work?

  107. With the press about the battery and all I wanted to do some testing.
    Disclaimer- I am not a professional at this and I dont claim to be… these are my observations.

    This is what my numbers came down to when I put the pen to the paper
    Charging adam while off: charged at a rate of 8% per 10 minutes- or 48% per hour
    Charging adam while on and doing nothing and wifi/screen on (half brightness): 6.5% per 10 minutes or 39% per hour

    Adam power usage when playing video on youtube and all apps possible(gmail, voice, Office, Games, Browser, etc) started once and wifi on and backlight set to half way- 3% consumed per 10 minutes or 18% an hour- which means 5.5 hour battery life
    Adam power usage when wifi killed and task killer killed apps, and backllight set to half full and adam running angry birds in idle- 2.5% usage per 10 minutes or 15% per hour which means 6.67 hour battery life.

    Is there a chance to get 10 hours out of this battery?… maybe… If I uninstalled everything except the one app I want to use and try running just that, outside with back-light off using ambient lite to play… I might get 10 hours. I have not tested this yet…

    What am I expecting from my tablet? 5-6hours because Rohan said he got 6 hours of usage time when using it aggressively. That is what I am getting too. He did not lie. Everyone tries to flex their muscles and show the highest level of hour usage on their batteries, even if the avg user wont see it. I also heard that there was a possibility of 14 hours of just playing music with everything else disabled… anyone want to test this? I dont have 14 hours…to play around

  121. I would advise you to just wait for the support team to get back to you. Same happened to me and it’s all good now. Took about 24 hours though.
    In the meantime you might want to check if your status says paid or paying in progress. If it’s the latter then you need to complete your transaction first.

I was informed by e-mail from steve at NISupport that I would be contacted on Monday… That was yesterday. Can you checkup on this? I have posted several video’s of my glitch and no one else has it.   136. What he is saying is the xoom, has no wifi only option, you have to buy a 3g tablet and activate it for at least a month, before you can cancel and use just the wifi.

    so you have to go to best buy and buy the 3g xoom, activate the data plan, and cancel after a month, I am sure it you cancel after a month and a day, you end up paying for two months.. there will be whole lot of people that forget to cancel the data plan, which is off coarse exacty what they want.

    this is my general problem with it, motorola is treating there customers as idiots.

  156. Oh that’s requires lot of multitasking :).
    Same happened with me. I was not able to pre-order because the mail never reached me . After than you realize that you have also friends/studies/books/life outsde internet and hell lot of thing which you were neglecting because you were following adam 24×7. I started giving time to all these things but at the same time followed adam too.
    Was getting so much disappointed after seeing lots of delaying happening and thought tht will not able to have my adam till may or june(as there was no clear date for pre-order2) and frankly started to lose a bit of faith over adam(not because it’s inferior but because i was waiting for almost an year and starting to becoming a bit impatient). Shared it with karen too that prolly will buy adam 2 and meanwhile switch off myself from adam 1.

    But you can’t do. It’s an addiction ๐Ÿ™‚ . You will read the posts and every comments. Even if you try to unsubscribe from it, you will subscribe in some days again :)[at least this happen with me]. meanwhile my faith won over and got a preorder 1.5 mail ๐Ÿ™‚ on 5th of February and so have ordered adam (LCD+wifi+3g) and eagerly waiting for it.

    Meanwhile have to say this blog is a goldmine of learning. Met mates from so many countries, learn about their county,culture a bit and more importantly learnt a lot about adam/Android and technology in general. So kudos to this blog and all fellow mates who have contributed to make this place worth visiting again and again :).

    Does any one know of a good mind map application for android? I use iMind Map by Buzan on my windows pc and I would like some similar program for use on the Adam.

    As mentioned in many hands-on videos on adam, there seems to be some “touch” problem at the upper border of the screen…

    Is that something that can be fixed by a software update?

  167. Rohan, make it a point that you release atleast a raw version of Honeycomb without Eden before xoom is commercially available. This will be a shot in arm for Motorola. $800 is the price and it offers only improved resolution of screen.

    Don’t delay Honeycomb and Notion Ink will Rule so will all Adam 1 users .

  168. Love the update Rohan but I was hoping to hear that you had expanded your communications team as well. Patent and IP is important, and developers are certainly important, but communication is equally important and so many comments on this blog and on the net are discussing this issue with your company.

    I for one have never received any emails about delays though I did receive my order email just fine. Many others indicate problems getting your emails or very long reply times to queries. While I realize it is a challenge to scale your company, scaling the part that customers interact with most directly is also part of the job. Please consider putting some effort there.

    I guess, Octroi is dependent on what state you live in. AFAIK, there is no Octroi charges for any city in in Gujarat, but in Pune its 4% of total value.

    I really wish you do not have to pay extra 5k.

I left a message on MakeTechEasier.com website about whether you received your adam or not and whether you intend to port Ubuntu onto it or not. I will be very interested to hear from anyone who has dual booted adam with Ubuntu as the second OS.

    ~i’ve been following adam since april 2010.
    ~i bought a ipad to fill the wait time hopping to sell it for an adam when it came out.
    ~i fallowed the NI blog ever since, but without posting. i was not apart of the family ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
    ~i sold my ipad dec 15 in order to be apart of pre-o-1.
    ~i stayed up 40 hours straight the night of pre-o-1 refreshing email,blog, and webpage.
    ~next i got my chance to order, it did not go through.
    ~i called my credit card company to authorizes you.
    ~i called the visa verification system, but nothing worked.
    ~i must have tried to put the order thought 40 times.
    ~i submitted a 3g question but did not get a response for weeks.
    ~i went 4 months with out an ipad or a smart phone(i lost my cell, thats not your fault)
    ~thought all this i continued to stay loyal.
    ~i have continued to post positive and congratulatory statements since pre-o-1.
    ~i even made two movie un-boxings for the adam.

    as i mentioned before this is my resume for why i should be apart of pre-o-2. this post is in no way intended to offend NI or complain about my journey with you. these are just the facts of my journey and i wanted to share them with you. as always, i wish NI good luck and continued success.

Apple exists as a company because it can market mediocre products with a sleek design. If you must make comparisons, try the xoom or any of the asus eee pad tablets. Those are true tablets and competitive, but NI still wins out in my book. Pixel Qi and Eden FTW!

    I did not receive an order confirmation from NI, but I did receive one from CC Avenue – and my credit card was charged. I am using the Order No. provided by CC Avenue. Is there another Order No. at Notion Ink??

    Anybody else have that problem?? I don’t even know my estimated delivery date.

    Glad to hear the NI team is hard to work on Honeycomb, can’t wait to see it (+ new eden) on adam! I’ve been encouraged by your quick fixes to the early software issues in the first shipment and I can’t wait to receive my adam!

    Is Genesis launching after Honeycomb comes out? Will you be able to offer Honeycomb shortly after it launches? When will the rest of NI’s apps (music player, eReader) come out?

    I hope you can get the adam to retail stores (or even amazon) sooner rather than later- if the $799 Xoom price is anywhere near normal for the coming set of android tablets, there is a lot of room there for adam to pick up some sales as you update to Honeycomb. Of course, I figure we’re more likely to see adam 2 in stores than adam 1…

Still, after having watched all the video’s and the comment of Albert, I am quite convinced we did the right choice. Not only the screen is comparable to normal LCD (even though somewhat worse) but we will have a choice to use the Pixel Qi indoor (with some backlight on maybe) and of course outdoor.We’ll see soon (hopefully ;-))

    I am sorry to see that you couldn’t order your adam in the first round of orders. I wish you will get a chance to order one in the second round. Do not despair. You shouldn’t worry about not having a tablet with your for a few months. There is life outside a tablet. I believe you have made a wise choice by selling your iPad. Did you get a good price? I would however like to remind you that there is a bit of a learning curve involved in using an adam. I hope you are conversant with Android platform. If not you can learn. You need to be patient, that is all to it.

    Also a very prudent call on your part to be on Tegra Harmony!! Honestly even engineers with lot of experience fail to make such forward looking decisions – just in time. You have also done a very good organizational tactic of having a separate team for Gingerbread. It just made me more upset, I have had a little time to cool down. and am back, but I am not the fanatic I was, I’ve been posting small stuff since June, and that is when there were only a hundred post to the blog over a few weeks.

    never got a friend email pre-order, but still ordered in the regular process (two tablets in fact) never got a single email for Notion Ink acknowledging my orders, just constantly switching delivery estimates on the website, Sent emails to sales support, never got a response, I went from the 9th to the 15-22nd to the 29th and then to Feb14th like many others.

    Heard rumors of a gift to make it better, but not holding my breath for that, after all, it appears the logo finalist, never received anything, many never even got a pre-order opportunity, I see the winner final was rewarded a few days ago, which is nice.

    In general I am just down on the whole experience, I think it will be great to get the tablet, with all the work at notion ink hacks, I feel there will be support through them, I am just holding my breath, that I donโ€™t need hardware support, because I don’t have any confidence in getting much support from Notion Ink, which is kind of sad.

    Sorry don’t mean to bring the tone down again, since now the blog is all positive and all. But it is the way I feel. I do believe there are many in my position and many who have left and arenโ€™t coming back, If I didnโ€™t have the orders in place, I frankly would have lost faith and gone elsewhere. But with around $1100 already spent I am going to finish it, It just wasnโ€™t the experience I expected.

  314. No one can tell you that except Rohan himself,

    Best guess is not for a while, they are selling all they can produce over the web with no middleman taking a cut. They are not going to change this, until they get funding that allows them to produce more then they can sell directly.

    once you enter the retail market, you have to carry inventory at stores. Best Buy may have it on the shelf, but Notion Ink will have to have a large liablity set aside to handle over stock that can be returned. Plus Notion Ink will have to give a pretty nice cut to Best Buy (or any retailer for that matter)

    You also have to have production capacity to be able to make committments to Best Buy that you can deliver product to them.

    Notion Ink is not going to do this for a long while. Likely many months at the soonest, but more likely not till x-mas shopping season 2011, but be my guess at the earlist.

    Maybe they have way more funding then it appears and it will be sooner. but I don’t think so.

    Rohan stated in a blog post in December, that they had to pay for production in December for runs that won’t happened until March.

    Its really sad that you are allowing the pre order for very few.. Anyway I had just done with my investments (for tax savings) and ready to get any tablet which is one my way from March..
    Any Adam holders have done video run down test? (Samsung Wave is capable of playing 8.5 hours of video).. I just want to know the capability of Adam’s battery to play the video (all connectivities 3G, wifi are switched off, no background apps running, using headphones)

  318. @suicideclown1: this is an important reason of why I want to buy a PQ-screen. The problem with tablets is that they don’t have easily replaceable batteries such as on a phone. Luckily Adam has a removable battery but that is a cumbersome process that involves screws. So it is only useful when you want to place a new one and throw the old one away. With that Adam still has the best solution of all tablets on the market, but 6 hours remains a bit limited when you are on the road (or a full day at school), particularly in case you cannot replace your drained battery by a full one.

    PQ-screens will offer 10 to 15 hours, depending on usage. That can get you through a full day.

    Wishlist for Adam 2: make the battery as easy replaceable as a phone battery ๐Ÿ™‚

  343. Ummm. Just like most of Rohans comments, his answer is as clear as mud.

    He states:

    This can be interpreted to mean just about anything. That they made hardware changes doesn’t exactly clarify if those hardware changes made it into the current production.

    Is it really asking too much for him to speak in more definitive terms?

    For example, the way I would have said this is:

    Back in Septemper we updated the Adam to be Ventana compatible and all units that have shipped to customers were based on this revision.

    Is that too much to ask?

  356. You may want to change to LCD. Check videos from Greg (notioninkfan.com) and Albert (albertcwertz on youtube) that are available on their experience with Pixel Qi on Adam. I think the general opinion is that LCD is much more brighter than Pixel Qi when used indoors. If 80% of the usage time is going to be indoors, then may be LCD is the way to go, but that is totally an personal opinion.

  357. Happy days are back! This Blog suddenly looks familiar… The last couple of weeks was really harowing with the kind of chatter about Adam. Frankly I think, though some of the outburst could be genuine, a lot of noise was handiwork of bot bloggers who had nothing to do with Adam but wanted to promote their blogsite or products. On the whole, one can say that ‘the more the noise the better for a newcomer!’. It was hillarious to see some of the youtube videos and the comments beneath. Lets hope for the best and keep refreshing our mailbox… and the blogs…and the youtube…Wish I had an Adam to do that…sigh!

  370. If the answer is “yes”, don’t you think people will ask “what is it?” or “worth how much?”. Because as a response to your question, let’s say NI replies “Yes. There’ll be a gift”. Now people are going to start putting value on it, and chances are unless it’s “expensive” most people are going to come back and say NI sent a cheap gift. Delayed orders are not uncommon (multiple delays may be uncommon) but I would suggest avoid raising “gift” question. If it’ll happen, it’s suppose to be a gift.

    Also, NI has “promised” a gift? Not sure about that. I am not saying they won’t/shouldn’t put a little surprise gift, but I would definitely recommend not expecting it from the get-go. If it arrives in your shipment, it’d be a nice surprise.

    The EAP2 Program and SDK. Now that still hasnโ€™t kicked off because whole Notion Ink is in the mode of switching from Froyo-Gingerbread to Honeycomb. It makes more sense to share on a platform where developers can ensure their art work on more devices and which is a standard. RenderScript is also one part we are waiting for.

    I have been really busy for the last week and also this week due to a family event, hence no unboxing video – was not patient enough/no time to do one when I got my adam ๐Ÿ˜‰

    But here are my first impressions with Adam from the time of delivery (I have not spent quality time on Adam- but here it goes – advance apologies for typos – no time even now to review before posting):
    1. Customs charges by shipper – GATI – INR -4785 ~ $100
    2. Putting the screen guard is not that easy in Indian home environments (because you will find 1 or 2 fine dust particles getting stuck to your screen guard – I had one in the display area – had to remove it – and in the process – got some 2-3 dust particles – off the screen area – but thats ok since I am not having a dust particle staring @ me from the main display area ๐Ÿ˜‰
    3. Pixel Qi is a bit of a bargain in its current state – you lose some you get some.
    What I mean by that – if you have a reading light – that you use for books – you can still read indoors from the gray scale (not e-ink type hybrid mode) – this is in one way better than reading from a backlit screen. But you lose a bit on colours and it can be a let down if you are used to high quality mobile lcd displays. It must be noted that it is not a huge loss in many occasions – but is very much noticeable – most probably – a subjective compromise.
    4. Touch screen response is not great (or is it the software) – many times you will feel the difference in response – compared to other multitouch devices – like in comparison to my Desire HD.
    5. Eden, and other NI apps – need to be force closed some times – think things will improve in the next few weeks / months – this is a V1 device and it is very much expected – had a similar experince – read “in he polish of apps” with my Nook.
    6. Gonna root and try Opera and Dolphin HD when I get time.
    7. All in all Eden and NI apps are not yet dummy ready like other overlayed android experiences – like for example HTC Sense.
    – The last point being the reason – may be – for the invite only approach followed by NI to sell Adam – coz if you dont know some knick knacks – like how the Eden works etc, – it is gonna be a tough learning curve.

    Note:
    Please do not interpret my impressions above – I love my Adam – but don’t expect an iPhone4 or HTC Sense post “Desire” from it. Do be rest assured – it is probably the device to own for this year!

Once a stable version is released, NI will start shipping Adams on it. for details contact NI support. i had done that few weeks back got the same response. All Adams released prior to release of Honeycomb will be able to upgrade to Honeycomb

  405. I’m on Feb 14th list, and did not get any “gift” email. I know a few people who are inactive on this blog, but have ordered and are on that same Feb 14th list. None of them have received the email either. I think just a few people who contacted NI Support got a reply saying something along the lines of expecting a gift. And if the reply said “expect a gift”, then well… expect a gift. If it said “there may be gift”, then that’s the case.

    As far as bad press goes, I don’t think including a gift for a few people will fix that. Once Adam has matured (all the bug fixes, marketplace, etc etc.) and it lands in all those press people’s hands… they’ll use it and either they’ll eat their word, or they’ll be unimpressed. In either case, not sure gift is going to solve anything.

  406. I am becoming increasingly concerned about this issue and now the customer service that I am receiving. Steve in customer support told me Saturday that I would be called Monday… That is now 2 days late. I have reported my problems within the 7 day window that I am required to do for hardware issues and I am not being contacted further… I cant help but feel that the previous mentioned rumors might be true about some sort of run around delay to make the 7 day window run out. NI please follow up on your customer service and contact me regarding this. Silence is not golden in this situation. I have a hardware concern and Steve in support thought it was serious enough to forward it on to some sort of support staff that was suppose to contact me and has not… anyone listening? Please Contact me- Albert Wertz

    Other software related issues I have seen- When uninstalling apps using the sniffer program, frequently the ones selected are not the ones that appear in the uninstall window. If you are not paying attention you will uninstall wrongly selected apps. This can be corrected by uninstalling them in the settings menu and not in the sniffer application.
    – When typing text in websites and in office documents, the screen does not always move up to see where you are typing, frequently the keyboard covers it up when it pops up.
    – When closing the keyboard after typing in the office suite, the screen frequently gets stuck in a higher plane and wont return unless exited from the program and reenter.
    – GPS takes 20+ minutes to find my location with map program initially turned on. Why does this take so long? Why doesnt GPS instantly activate when I enable it? My galaxy S phone will find a GPS signal in 30 seconds flat when I enter a navigation program…
    – autofocus issues in low light, visual noise on screen when using camera- does not appear in image when taken afterwards and viewed but does appear when videotaping on screen.
    – Keyboard pops up every time I click a text box even though I have a USB keyboard plugged in, I have to close the onscreen keyboard manually every time
    – please allow video recording app to run and record in background when I go to another application
    – Please add a % amount on the battery. The adam has the same problem as the galaxy S phones in that the battery measurement is not correct with the icon, 60% is still green and showing only quarter of battery gone, please make % on top of battery icon
    – please organize desktop, allow for folders, and moving of icons, why cant we use widgets?
    – plugs for HDMI and USB ports- I already have a spec of dust that got into the inner screen and is stuck on the inside due to getting in through a usb or hdmi port
    – Why on boot up does almost every app in the world start? I have to run advanced task killer to kill everything on bootup every time.
    – when pulling down the status bar, I want a quick key to toggle wifi, gps, lighting, bluetooth and rotation… just like every other android device

    I am going to post this on the NI blog aswell. Please maintain consistency in your customer service and not leave people hanging…

    I hope things are going well out there at NI with all the new people and all the crazy commotion. I know a lot of people are concerned with the PQi and LCD screens with the Adam. Many people have done reviews with the PQi screen but not many have done the LCD. Since no one has both the PQi and the LCD is there anyway for your next update to show a quick video of both the PQi and LCD side by side running some various apps, web pages, and some short video in an average brightness room? I am sure this will greatly help out with peopleโ€™s decision of which version to get in the next round of orders. I know I am looking forward to ordering my PQi with wifi.

    We are delighted to inform you that we will be sending you an invite to order your Adam starting from 9 February 0900hrs IST to 11 February 0900hrs IST. (IST = GMT + 5.5hrs)

    You will be sent an e-mail with a link in it, using which your order can be placed.

    Here are some things we would like you to know before you attempt to place your order.

    1. We strongly suggest that you call your bank/credit card company before clicking on the link, to preauthorise this transaction, in order to avoid any issues while placing your order. This is necessary as your bank/credit card company may flag this transaction or block it completely. If you have not used your card to make high value international transactions before or if you are placing this order using the Internet from a location.

    2. Currently, payments would be possible only through VISA (credit and debit) and AmEx cards only. We are still in the process of acquiring MasterCard as a payment partner, which is stuck at MasterCard’s end. This is why Internet banking is available as a payment option for Indian card holders.     We charge a flat shipping fee of USD 50 / INR 2350 for your order. We use DHL,TNT and EMS as shipping companies.

    Currently, orders would be shipped out in two different batches – 25 February to 28 February 2011 and 5 March to 10 March 2011.
    You would be split into the appropriate batch on a first come first serve basis.

    The issue with the ports sounds also worrying: Albert has been having his adam for just a couple of days and there’s already dust inside his screen?!? Can some other adam owner confirm that? Could Rohan or someone from NI comment on that? As soon as I receive mine I will place some black sticky tape on the ports until something nicer comes out…

    Yep, that he did. and i will most prolly be included as i have been a member on notionaddicts before the cut off date of 23rd jan. I m just worried as i have a unique problem. I work on an offshore oil rig and im due to crew change out tomorrow (10th) to go home from Vietnam to India and then back to the rig after 4 weeks. So from tomorrow, it will be difficult for me to get access to internet services until i reach back home (12th) as i will be on the run so to speak..lol. I hope i can just get an invite to order it before i get off the rig. Talk about Bad timing! ๐Ÿ˜€

    i have 2 questions
    1. which 3G band for India?
    2. why the conversion rate comes out to be Rs 50.26/ US $ 1, when it is 45.42 as per xe website ?

  462. Yippiee!!! Got an email from NI, logged in and placed an order for 3G PQ. Used an Amex- transaction completed in less than 2 minutes from start!! I had not notified Amex that I would be making any purchase either!!!

    Also got confirmation email from NI!!

  463. Just download any of the update.zips you find online to update the adam (you don’t need an adam, just check the zip file)

    There’s a clear reference to the harmony chipset in there.

    Don’t know why I got yelled at so much for the post, it’s 100% legitimate, and backed by rather sound evidence.
