[Update: ICS on Adam
Will share more info soon. Have a good day!
Regards]
Hi there,
You know we were expecting the ICS release from Google in early November, but the actual release was in the 3rd week, so you should add this buffer. NVidia’s release is not for Harmony, so you need little extra time. Andy and Tabletrom guys are also on the task.
Good news is that builds here have passed the ALSA issue (follow IRC at tabletroms for more details). Will be just while when you will get one! 🙂
Stay tuned.
Regards
Rohan Shravan
If the release is not for Harmony then when will they release it such that it is compatible with Adam ?
Thanks for updating us 🙂
The question is will NVIDIA ever release it for Harmony??
Status updates are always welcome !!
Staying tuned…
Thanks Rohan!!
Peaceout adamfreaks
Thanks
Thanks Rohan for the update. If I understand correct we will be getting an intermediate ICS build before NVidia releases harmony build. We welcome that :).
Commenting on the above comment, NVidia will release harmony build as long as OEMs support (that was what they claimed earlier). Correct me if I am wrong.
My guess is NVidia’s having trouble porting their proprietary crap to newer kernels, and have anyway lost interest now that Tegra 3 is out. Lesson: don’t trust NVidia. Rohan made a mistake with Adam; I very much hope Adam 2 will be based on a more open hardware. No matter how cool Tegra 3 looks, don’t go with it.
I do not expect a fully-functional ICS to come out, ever. Either it will be a newer kernel but some hardware will be non-working forever, or it will be based on kernel 2.6.32.9 and some ICS features (like accelerated GUI) won’t happen.
Nvidia’s update is planned for early next year?
Let’s just hope NI and TR are making progress to offer us a cool x-mas present…
Thanx for the update 😉
Just a quick comment on ICS for adam:
While NVIDIA clearly only cares about ventana now, harmony is actually not that different.
The biggest issue is that new kernels are required in order to use the new driver, but given the huge amount of work I as well as others have put in to port kernel previously for HC, we have a headstart there!
With HC, we (tabletroms) proved that Adam was ventana-compatible given the right kernel. (Stock Acer and ASUS rome work with very few changes!).
So conclusion is:
It might take a bit longer, but it’s definitely possible and going to happen!
🙂
word from the man himself…..super 🙂
Thanks Rohan for update, always good to hear from you.
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells… Jingle all the way…
thanks RaYmAn, Rohan…looking forward to ICS
Thanks! That sounds promising 🙂
Hi Rohan, thanks for the update.
Please keep us informed. It is better to read something than nothing 🙂
cheers,
Alex
🙂
abra ka dabra……allakazoom…here is the present ICS ROM !!!!! lets hope this happens !!!!
That is really encouraging! So it is not going to be a long wait! Hopefully by Christmas! 🙂
RaYmAn : Good to hear from you! Sounds like TR has things well in hand. Now if only NI can hand us a release 😉
Luck,
Threats don’t buy anything, plus you are only like to get half what your Adam is worth on eBay…from what I have seen you might be better off at Tablet Roms 😉
Luck,
Are you RaYmAn working with mrdeadlocked on the ICS source code?
From what l read he seems to be making progress using his new PC.
Wish you both all the best on your valuable contribution.
Not a threat, a deadline. I’ve already pushed it out to take into account the delays in getting ICS source code. The thing’s a semi-functional brick, a waste of money. My fault, I know, I thought I was buying a fully-functional product. Caveat Emptor, and all that.
And if I can only get half the purchase price, then that’s what it’s worth… but at least the cash will have more function that the Adam.
Hope you push your in-house ICS team and earn Notionink some good rep with an official & full featured update. 🙂
Good news, thanks Rohan.
Haters gonna hate.
There is light at the end of the Tunnel……Rohan do something .@RaYmaAn ..Dude you did once you will do it again. Will wait with patience.
