“I am an owner of one of the tablet computers affected by the issue about which Jens Andersen originally posted in Dec 2011. I’m currently running Android 4.0.3, but my camera isn’t working, and I’d very much like to get it back in working order again, please. I note that nothing substantive has been posted by anybody from NVIDIA in the last four months in this channel, which is very disappointing indeed.

I second the comment by fosser2 – the community of developers and users of NVIDIA Tegra 2 equipped devices need to provide continuing support for these products, and have a right to expect NVIDIA to provide adequate documentation support to enable them to do so. Failing to do so smacks of chip maker initiated built-in obsolescence, which is a sure fire way to lose friends and alienate people.

Since openness in HW and SW is the way of the future, this studied ignorance by NVIDIA reflects very poorly on them as a reliable company. Unless this changes, and the sooner the better, in the future I shall be avoiding purchasing devices with NVIDIA componentry inside, such as the Tegra 3, in favour of chip makers who DO provide adequate documentation support for their products.”

• UserAAA – “If you need to get any support you should contact to an NVIDIA’s representatives directly. It will be the shortest way to get answers.”
• Udayan U – “It is really hard to believe that you guys need to contact NVIDIA via forums. Don’t they have a CRM or a tech support? You built a tablet based on NVIDIA’s flagship SOC and sold thousands of them. How did the camera work initially? What is the agreement signed between Notion Ink and NVIDIA with regards to future support? Giving petty reasons and asking customer’s to go and knock the supplier’s door is nothing but foolishness.”

As a MacBook Pro owner, myself and other Mac+Adam1 owners also need an ICS that:
• enables our Adam1’s camera and microphone hardware
• allows bog standard easy access to the Android App Ecosystem by running Google’s Play Store App
• does NOT require a PC running M$ Windoze or Linux + hacker-style skills to install
