Hello there!

Long time since we last spoke! Quick updates:

Support team strength = developer team strength. As discussed earlier we have expanded our support team and now in fact it is bigger than the developer team. There was a training need before their proper inception, and now that is also done. So expect better services. (We have hired a top batch of iTunes’ support department.)
Streamlining the shipment process. You might have noticed emails from DHL, TNT and Gati on the shipment details. We have streamlined the information process and these emails were sent as a part of this change. Soon we are merging the 2 support systems (ours and shipment partners) so the request can be made to only to one of us.
Notion Ink was busy in under going a Major operational change and have added a lot of talent and experienced resource on all the levels to take the firm to the next corporate levels. Notion Ink is also under the process of closing the next series of investment (and that’s where I had to spend most of my time).
Books, which I just touched upon on the last blog, are coming from our partner in the form of store and app. Their content is good, and app ready for 2.2 and 2.3 OS. But then we are soon moving to Honeycomb, and these apps need some face-lifts.
Eden Apps has been ported on Honeycomb!
Notion Ink is also setting up a local Sales and Services Centers in US, Germany and India for better and faster support. The US one will get working first.
Notion Ink has expanded in one more area: Games!
Design, UI and animation team has also been expanded. (In fact in last 3 weeks, we have had around 80+ interview (I attend all))
Official QuickOffice Release: LINK
Dev team is maintaining a TRAC (moved out from wikidot now) for the current development process which will be opened for all to see, especially the wiki part. We are also maintaining the “Re-usable Code Sections” which can then be used by the developers to quickly make their apps and use one standard throughout.
On the delay part (Indian one) There was a bribe demand from some of the people associated in releasing the product from Customs. Notion Ink would not pay them and that’s the reason for delay. (This time to ease deliveries in India, Gati had ordered all the product at once to Bombay and then ship it from there instead of one shipment per customer from China.) This endangers Notion Ink’s spirits of selling Adam in India as well, but we have to take risk and absorb loss to make this Nation cleaner (it’s a headache for me and customer, specially because it’s consuming a lot of time, but I remember once discussing with my friends that if I have opportunity, I will fight against it, and I think this is the starting)
Whole Notion Ink’s Bangalore facility is under construction since last 30 days (re-layouts and interiors).

Just wanted to greet you all on this fine autumn day in Australia.

My adam booted up and told me there were 14 posts on this blog, and using the RSS feed is the only way to actually find them these days so I was thankful.

Yes I think Rohan is still alive. No he’s not pumping gas with Elvis.
I am so thankful for the spreadsheet, its great to be able to get a picture of the world of adam, and great to see some very patient and longsuffering people receiving their delivery notifications (unicornkaz that’s for you buddy!).
At the same time its so amusing to see certainty Octogenarian primates getting all worked up. Sure its frustrating, but there’s not too many people I’ve seen who have said it was not worth the wait. My wife and I both have adams and yesterday she even figured out how to send mine a text from hers.
As for communications from NI, I am FAR MORE INTERESTED in communications from Rohan, but I suspect he won’t post again until all the adams are out the door. It seems to me he had to send a posse over to China to physically point to the pile of adams and ask “Hey, can anyone tell me why these aren’t on the truck to the airport yet?”

Then my tweetdeck told me android police had posted 10 new tweets. Some about amazon app store. Did you know apple are trying to sue them for using the word “app”? What the hell? Apple are so FRIGGIN PETTY I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!!!
So sorry about that, a mental patient took over my keyboard and it took a moment for me to get APPLE SUCKS APPLE SUCKS APPLE SUCKS control back from him.

Speaking about the Amazon App store, sorry, is that Appstore, or AppStore, or App Store, I’m just not sure which one apple will allow me to use, my most humble apologies Oh Mighty One, it doesn’t work for me in Australia. The app loads but trying to buy something tells me its not open for my area yet. I guess they don’t trust convicts.

So what I am most interested in is whether this google thing about honeycomb will affect us. One report I read said tablet manufacturers could just ask for it, and that’s one good reason that we can’t make calls from adam, its most definitely not a phone. Anyway I certainly hope Google don’t hold it back from NI.

Oh and since we’re all getting warm and fuzzy and revealing out first names, big surprise, but my name is Phillip. I know, I know, shame on me for hiding it all this time.

I called TNT today regarding the delay for Hong Kong. They said there was no room in the cargo for the specific commercial flight my package was going to be sent on so it’s waiting to be sent on the next available flight. My Adam is to be delivered to Des Moines, IA and they stated I would have it by Friday.

a miracle has happened… after placing my order on 16.02 I finally today (28.03) got an email from TNT with my package number. What is interesting, when I called TNT, I was told that the package was handed to them today (sic!) and it will reach me (Poland) on 06.04.

I’m a patient person… but seriously… is it so hard for a international company to properly estimate delivery time?! When I first placed an order I thought – 3 weeks tops – since there is quite a distance between Poland and China. It it would be some no-name online shop that is owned and maintained by one person then the lack of QoS would be understandable…

Now, for this wonderful picture to be complete I bet that the device I’m gonna get will have some screen issues… or other, equally nice manufactural flaw..

Bad news out of Google today, they are not going to allow any 2.x tablet to be upgraded to Honeycomb, hopefully this is not true, but it appears to be,

if so, then NIH is are only hope of an upgrade to honeycomb.

Buried in among the recent talk of a Google Nexus Tablet by LG was an interesting – if concerning for current Android tablet owners – snippet about Google’s licensing agreements for Android OS updates. According to Mobile-Review, using Android 3.0 Honeycomb requires a separate license to using 2.x, with one of the clauses being that a device running 2.x cannot be subsequently updated to 3.0.

My shipping status on notion ink store had quietly been changed to SHIPPED. Called tnt about the Hong Kong connection delay, recovery actions are underway. They said it was a flight delay. They were also kind enough to tell me that my package was being shipped express and I should have it in minnesota, usa by friday if not earlier.
Yay can’t wait. We all know what I’m doing this weekend. Who needs sleep, what is such animal as sleep?

  Just checked and my status on the order page has changed to shipped as well. They also provided a link from my payment page to a different tracking page than the one provided on the TNT pages, and it can use my order number as the reference number. It provides a bit more information, saying that I also have a connection delay and recovery actions are under way (in Hong Kong) so if Minnesota is Friday, maybe mine will be next Monday?
  That seems like a very long time

  They said they will go from hong kong to belgium to los angeles then to either fedex or ups.received email from gati march 25 at 700am.
  There’s hope for us alk yet. I agree it is a very long time to wait just to friday. Always seems longer when you actually see the light st the end of the tunnel.

  Here is how my shipment went with TNT, and a delivery to the Philly TNT office. It was a 2 day wait from NYC to Philly, yours may be a little longer. TNT is real time tracking. You can call 1-800 558 5555 if needed.
  
  The “Delay. Recovery Action Underway” in HK, is usually normal. It is processing the package. Occasionally it is something else.
