Hello Fellows!

[update]: Read few comment on the glass, and matte nature. Here is exactly what it is. Adam comes with 2 layers of Matte Surfaces, one on the LCD screen, other through the Matte Screen protector on the outside Glass. Inside layer cuts the gloss on the LCD layer and colors are not washed out. For the outside glass we are using specially designed matte covers which users at their end can decide to use or not. It is finger stain resistant (oil component) and has same matte properties as on the LCD. The glass in itself is further scratch resistant. Hope this resolves the confusion.

I got the news yesterday but thought should start the Saturday tradition again! Labs have officially announced the FCC clearance and will probably update the status on the FCC website either today or on Monday. This means that we start printing on Monday and start shipping around Wednesday! Those curious ones can look out for NI3421A01 as the Product Code, Guarantee Code: Y2G and 0020356499 as FNR to search the product (you will get results only when FCC updates on their websites). I have the CE details, but I think there is a regulation that details can only be made public by them.

There is a small story behind the product code (assigned by Notion Ink). It reads NI3421A01. NI stands for Notion Ink and A01 is Adam 1 series. 3421 are consecutive numbers in the Fibonacci series. We can trace the number down to NI0000A01 (later ones being 0100, 0102, 0302, 0503, 0805, 1308, 2113 and 3421). This would mean that the final Adam you will receive is the 9th iteration! Behind every version and number there is either a very beautiful or sad story. For examples the 1308 version was in May last year when the investor issue started.

In the last blog, Mr. Rantz from LongBoxDigital spoke about our collaboration with a BIG Media group. This is definitely exciting for our content strategy, but there was something under the wraps since September last year (was work in progress). We are getting LOTS of content for you, and you will certainly be extremely happy! This content side might include music, videos, books, and magazines (along with Comics with LBX).

Pre-order 2 has yet not started because we are waiting for deliveries in US and European countries (that would mean that we are just a few days away from it). But this time we are not going to do the mistakes we did last time. Last time we missed a lot of you, this time we will communicate with a lot of you to make it easier for those who were disappointed last time.

Hi,

I failed to do the 1st pre-order. I hope to get a chance atleast in the 2nd pre-order.

I need a few clarifications. I have mastercard/visa debit cards but no credit card. I am on the outskirts of Bangalore north. How do I go about securing my adam; will I be notified as part of the family? Can we not avoid this import and instead go the CKD kit way? (Completely Knocked Down Kit). In case of any defect, can it be got serviced right here in Bangalore, rather than sending it overseas? I may be only one voicing this thro this blog; but I have got scores of my friends / associates and relatives interested inadam.

People like me waited past the midnight but failed miserably to get hooked to the pre-order I.

Hello again NI community,
First off, I would like to again thank the NI team for being so close to the official release of their product! Second, I think that in the near future, some advertisement method will need to be put into play. Only us hard-core fans (I would label myself an Obsessor: A person who refreshes the NI page and blog every 10 seconds and gets every new comment sent to his/her email) really know about the ADAM. Unless you are a techy, or someone turned you onto the product, there is really no way to find out about the ADAM. I showed some of my friends the NI webpage today and they started calling it the “Notia” Tablet and laughing! So please, possibly after the first and second orders are done, spread the word. I would hate to see only a few thousand ADAM’s sell to us Obsessors and not to the rest of the world. I truly believe the ADAM is an iPad killer (yes I said it) and I wanna see some Apple A$$ Kicking! (Pardon my French )

I think that nobody should have received their Adam and that Rohan statement about “some people” should have received is not true.

At least it’s the answer from preorder support which makes me think so :
“All the Devices would be printed with the FCC and CE numbers and only then they would be shipped”
My questions was like as I am not located in Europe and US will my Adam not be delayed by the FCC approval. Thus nobody should have received it yet …

hoping to preorder this time – never received the preorder invite last time for some reason (stayed up all day looking for it….). Alas. As it turned out, I wasn’t too disappointed in the non-preorder b/c of the many worries that arrived.

Kudos for NI to answering most of these concerns. They won me back. They’ve consistently done a good job of listening to concerns and addressing them (over many months, not just the past month). Well done everyone. And good luck!

I haven’t comment since Dec 9th on the blog… As you can imagine I couldn’t complete the order process. I need to have my shipping address and billing address different, but as stated before even if you added the information that way, during the confirmation it would use the Billing address Only. I really hope that is changed now for the next batch of adams to be sold.

Also in other comments I’m looking forward not to a Preorder again but an Order… Let everyone buy the adam, and if NI runs out of stock, you can also put the orders as Back Order and ship them as soon as they are ready (With an active communication with the buyers of course)

If Adam’s version number really follows the Fibonacci sequence, that means either:

-Adam won’t be updated much in the future
-the back of it will soon be covered with endless sequences of numbers…

Just putting it out there. I think Meego would be pretty cool to see on the Notion Ink Adam. I seen a custom ui from evolve another hidden manufacture of tablets and they seem to have done a great job with the ui. check it out and tell me what you think. “http://evolvethree.com.au/products/meego-slate.html” The site takes a bit to load so dont be impatient. =]

If the tablet that is going to be sent to costumer doesn’t have the features announced (features not so good as said in the fist time), then its price should be reduced because the costumers made a pre-order on basis to some features that know have been cut. At the same time NI has to change the specification in the website because it is unfair to “lie” to the costumers.
Taking into account that the features have been changed, any costumer could cancel its order without any extra-charge.

this is spookily excellent timing, i was just contemplating getting an kindle DX (as my biggest reason for buying the adam is because of the pixelQI/Eink screen).

no less than the same day i absolved myself to buy one, did the next update come out to say about the pre-order 2.

thanks rohan, i know you have been working day and night on this product, and i know i should have a little more faith in yourselfs, was just worried in relation to having booked my exams in march and need to start studying real soon.

i hope round 2 goes ultra well for yourselves and i will be pushing the adam onto at least 10 people i know who i know would be interested.
